Academic Resilience and Experience of Students

This research note explores the relationships between academic resilience and other aspects of a student’s first-year academic
experience, including institutional commitment, self-discipline, academic self-efficacy, academic behaviors, and academic integration. Data from the 2014 Mapworks Fall Transition Survey is summarized below. In this  research note, three groups are explored based on the academic resiliency factor score: “Low Resiliency” (scoring less than 3 on the factor), “Moderate Resiliency” (scoring 3 or higher and less than 6 on the factor), and “High Resiliency” (scoring 6 or higher on the factor).
